The Korea Under-17 National Team will participate in a four-nation friendly in Spain next month in preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in November, the Korea Football Association announced on Monday. The federation also announced the 24-player roster.
The tournament will be held in the southern Spanish city of Marbella from Oct. 11 to 17. South Korea will face Morocco on Oct. 11, Belgium on Oct. 14 and England U-17 on Oct. 17. The U-17s, led by head coach Byun Sung-hwan, will convene on the sixth of next month and depart for the tournament immediately.
The U-17s qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup by finishing as runners-up at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Thailand in July. Since then, the team has held two domestic training camps, as well as a training camp in Indonesia, the host country of the U-17 World Cup, in August. Their participation in the four-nation tournament in Spain will be their final training session before finalizing their World Cup roster.
The 24-man roster includes 14 players who competed at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, including Kim Myung-jun (Pohang Steel), Kang Min-woo (Ulsan Hyundai), Lim Hyun-seop (Suwon Mattan) and Yoon Do-young (Chungnam Institute of Technology). Nine players who have distinguished themselves in recent domestic high school tournaments and call-ups, including 카지노 Kim Hyun-woo (Seoul Younggeumpo High School) and Baek Ga-on (Seoul Boyin High School), have also received opportunities. Kim Min-soo (Girona FC B), who plays in Spain, is the only overseas player on the roster, making his first call-up for Byun Sung-hwan.
Meanwhile, at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, South Korea will play in Group E against France, the United States and Burkina Faso.
