Hwang Sun-woo and Lee Ho-joon advance to the 200-meter freestyle semi-final at the World Championships
South Korean swimming star Hwang Sun-woo has advanced to the men’s 200-meter freestyle semi-final at the World Championships.
Hwang Sun-woo tied for 13th overall with a time of 1:46.69 in the 200-meter freestyle preliminary round at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, and won tickets to the semifinals given to the top 16.
Lee Ho-joon, who raced with Hwang Sun-woo, also recorded 1 minute 46.21 seconds to advance to the semi-finals with 5th place overall.
Hwang Sun-woo, who is the first Korean athlete to try to win two consecutive medals at the world championships following last year’s 200-meter freestyle silver medal at the world championships, will compete in the semi-final race tonight.
