The excitement is building for Lucas Verbal, who is set to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Verbal joined Tottenham just before the close of the winter transfer window last year. The transfer fee was £8.6 million and the contract was for five years. He will not join Spurs immediately, but will start on July 1. Under FIFA’s youth player protection rules, Verbal will spend the remainder of the season with his current club as he is under 18 years old.
He was born in 2006. The Swedish midfield prospect grew up in his home league and made his first professional appearance in July 2022 with IF Brommapoikarna. At a young age, he has great physicality and the ability to orchestrate the whole game. This combination of talents caught the attention of several clubs early on.
Over the winter, Tottenham were interested in signing Verbal. Barcelona were also among the favorites. According to Spain’s Relevo, “Barcelona want to finalize the signing of Berivall in the winter and have him join them in June. The player wants to stay in Sweden for the rest of the season. He has already expressed his willingness to join Barcelona.”
That’s how Verbal confirmed his move to Tottenham. Spurs have high hopes. As Football Insider reports, “Tottenham see him as a promising youngster who can go straight into the first team. The idea is to get him into the first team at a young age and have him compete for a starting role.”
Of course, it will take time for him to settle in. Tottenham were aware of this internally. Alasdair Gold, a journalist for Football London, said on his 메이저토토사이트 podcast, “Gold and Guests,” “I’m excited to see what type of player we’re going to get. But I think people have to be patient with him. Even people around him are saying, ‘Give him six months. I think he needs to adapt, but I think he’s going to be a great player.”
It’s not always easy for young players to establish themselves in the Premier League. Tottenham have had their fair share of promising youngsters, including Ashley Phillips, Alfie Dorrington, and Alejo Veliz, who have struggled to get enough game time. Spurs web outlet Spurs Web also reports that Verbal will need time to settle in, but if he’s ready to step up to the plate, manager Enze Postecoglou won’t hesitate to start him.
