Tottenham are interested in signing Takefusa Kubo

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Japanese football sensation Takefusa Kubo (23, Real Sociedad). With a buyout clause of £51 million (approximately KRW897 million), it is expected to be a tough negotiation.

British media outlet Gibmi Sport reported on 16 June that ‘Tottenham are looking to sign a striker who has been compared to Lionel Messi, with Real Sociedad’s Kubo Takefusa their target. He scored seven goals and provided four assists in the 2023-24 Spanish La Liga season. It was a standout performance. He has continued that form this season,’ the report said.

Tottenham’s current challenge is generational change. To that end, the club brought in a number of young players in the summer transfer window, including Wilson Odegaard, Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Verbal.

The reasons for Spurs’ desire for Guevo are clear. Son Heung-min is still a stalwart of the flank, but Brennan Johnson hasn’t lived up to expectations and the Frenchman has been plagued by frequent injuries. There is a desperate need for a backup to Son. Tottenham are looking at Gubo to solve this problem.

Sociedad seems to be reluctant to make a move for Guevo.

According to Gibmi Sports, ‘Tottenham believe Gubo is the right option. However, Sociedad will only allow the transfer if a buyout clause is paid.’

Guevo’s buyout clause could prove costly for Spurs. It’s around 90 billion won.

However, there is another player who has already been approached by Spurs. This is Yang Min-hyuk, the 18-year-old winger who has been the breakout star of Gangwon FC this season.

He signed a contract with Tottenham in July and was originally due to join the club in January next year after finishing the K League this season, 토토사이트 but the ‘injury ward’ club requested his early arrival in December. Gangwon will conclude their K League 1 schedule on 23rd of this month against the Pohang Steelers.

Born in 2006, Yang Min-hyuk is the first player in the K League to sign a professional contract while still in high school. He made 37 appearances in the K League this season. He scored 11 goals and provided six assists, establishing himself as one of the league’s top stars in his debut season.

British media outlets have referred to him as the ‘successor to Son Heung-min’.

Yang Min-hyuk has won the K League Young Player of the Month award five times this season. He won the award in April, followed by consecutive wins in May, June, and July. In October, he won the same award. In July, he also won the K League Player of the Month award.

‘He will carefully adapt to a new team, league, and culture,’ said Alasdair Gold, a journalist at Football London, a British outlet that focuses on Tottenham, ’and he will train to meet the physical demands of Premier League football.’

Yang won’t be able to start playing straight away in December. ‘Even if he joins quickly, he won’t be able to train with his team-mates until he has an official work permit,’ said the Evening Standard. He also won’t be able to officially register until the next transfer window opens.’
