A female professor at a university hospital became a professional boxing champion in Korea three years after her debut

Dr. Seo Ryeo-kyung, a professor of pediatrics at Cheonan Hospital, affiliated with Sunchon Hyang University, has been crowned the Korean champion of the KBM women’s light flyweight division of professional boxing.

According to the hospital, Dr. Seo competed in the “KBM 3rd Korean Title Match” at the Textile Center Event Hall in Seoul on March 14 and won the championship belt by TKOing her opponent in the eighth round at 38 seconds.

With the victory, Seo improved his career record to 7-6-1 (4KO) and remained undefeated.

Seo, who began boxing in 2019, made her professional debut in 2020 and was crowned Korean champion just three years after her debut.

“I remember the hours of sweat and training that I put in during my busy schedule,” said Dr. Seo. “I would like to thank everyone for their support, 스포츠토토 and I will always do my best in both my roles as a doctor and a professional boxer.”
