Professional soccer’s K League 1 Suwon Samseong has climbed out of the bottom of the league for the first time in more than three months.

Suwon won 2-1 away to Gangwon in the 24th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Gangneung Sports Complex on Nov. 22.

Riding a two-game winning streak, Suwon moved into 11th place with 18 points from four wins, six draws and 14 losses, knocking Gangwon down to 12th. This is the first time Suwon has escaped 12th place since April 9.

Meanwhile, Gangwon dropped to the bottom of the table with 2 W, 10 D, 12 L, and 16 points. Gangwon hasn’t won in 14 matches since a 1-0 victory over Jeonbuk on April 29.

Suwon’s Kim Joo-chan rattled the net with a curling kick after receiving a cross from Lee Sang-min in the 22nd minute. It was Kim’s second consecutive game with a goal, having scored against Ulsan Hyundai before.

Gangwon equalized in the 40th minute. On a corner kick, Kim Young-bin sent the ball into the box, and Lee Min-woo got a foot on it to finish.

Suwon’s Go Seung-bum scored the game-winner in the 15th minute of the second half. Jeon Jin-woo outpaced the defense and laid the ball off for Ko to calmly finish into the corner of the net.

In the Daejeon Hana Citizen-Daegu FC match at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium, home team Daejeon defeated Daegu 1-0 thanks to a debut goal from FIFA U-20 World Cup star Bae Jun-ho.

Daejeon, which tasted victory for the first time in more than a month after a loss to Gangwon on March 7, moved from seventh to sixth in the league with eight wins, nine draws and seven losses for 33 points.

Daegu, which went three games without a win (two draws), dropped from fifth to seventh place with eight wins, nine draws and 33 points, the same as Gangwon but with less goal difference.

In the 17th minute of the second half, Bae Jun-ho headed in a ball that Kim Hyun-woo floated in from a free kick. It was Bae’s K League 1 debut goal.

In the FC Seoul-Incheon United match at Seoul World Cup Stadium, the home team won 1-0.

With their third straight win, Incheon moved from ninth to eighth place with 33 points from eight wins, nine draws and seven losses.

After two games without a win (1-1), Seoul remained in third place with 10 wins, 7 draws, and 37 points.

Mpoku rattled the net with a direct volley from a ball dropped by Gerso off a corner kick in the 44th minute.

In the Suwon FC-Gwangju FC match at Suwon Sports Complex, the visitors won 1-0.

Gwangju snapped a four-match winless streak (three draws and one loss) with the victory. Gwangju moved from sixth to fifth place with 34 points from nine wins, seven draws, and eight losses.

Suwon FC, which went eight games without a win (2 D, 6 L), 한국야동 remained in 10th place with 5 W, 5 D, 14 L, and 20 points.

Gwangju’s Doo Hyun-seok opened the scoring in the 43rd minute with a powerful volley from the center of the penalty area.
