British lawyer demands 80 billion won, claiming LIV Golf stole the idea

First express league concept in 2014
A British lawyer demanded that LIV Golf pay $60 million (approximately 80.2 billion won), claiming that the company had stolen his idea.

Britain’s The Times reported on the 1st (Korean time) that British lawyer Andrew Gardiner demanded ‘idea value‘ from LIV Golf.

Lawyer Gardiner is the first person to come up with the idea of creating a special league by gathering only top players on the world professional golf stage, which is divided between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, in 2014.

Gardiner claimed that he would launch a league named Premier Golf (PGL) by attracting O’Neill money from Saudi Arabia.

However, the launch of PGL did not become a reality and was forgotten.

Instead, LIV Golf was launched in 2022. There was some talk that PGL came out under the name LIV Golf, but the two are not related at all.

Instead of supporting PGL, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund (PIF) directly created LIV Golf.

In response, Gardiner demanded a large amount of compensation, saying, “LIV Golf stole my idea.” Gardiner’s claim is that he initially promised to receive all financial designations from Saudi Arabia.

However, Gardiner is placing more emphasis on settlement than litigation.

The Times reported that Gardiner is willing to settle for $10 million (about 13.3 billion won). 일본야동
